April A-Z 2021- (L)ife, (M)usic and (N)ow

We can’t always choose the music life plays for us, but we can choose how we dance to it. -Unknown

I like to hide in the music that fits the moment. I’m not sure hide is the correct term, it’s more like letting the music envelope me. Have you ever heard a song that just coarses through your veins? You get so lost in that moment that you aren’t even sure you are breathing.

Like my writing, I go through phases with music. I like music from just about every genre and I can find something that fits whatever my mood may be that day. Lately, I have been drawn back to my classical roots. I have played several instruments since elementary school so instrumental holds a special place in my heart.

Life keeps on crashing
Day after day, like a wave after wave
We did everything right and now I’m asking
Where do we go? Oh

I’ve been struggling with writing lately, so I have found it easier to dive back into the music. I’ve listened to this track from Lindsey Stirling several times today as it seems to fit into the many facets of my life. My relationships have been challenging due to life changes, including Covid. Where I want to take the blogs and if I really want to keep both, and even dealing with school challenges with my son. These questions right now are more of a contemplative nature and I don’t really have the answers to any of them. So for now, I’m going to let the music speak for me.

When our prayers are answered
Where do we go? Oh
When our prayers are answered but the answer isn’t no
Tell me where the wind blows

Tell me where the wind goes
Where do we go?
Where do we go- Lindsey Stirling w/ Carah Faye Charnow

  1. Sometimes I hear a song – it doesn’t necessarily have to be one I know – and something in the lyrics catches my attention, which makes me listen to the entire song. Really listen. I hear the message in there, a message of strength, or a message to allow grief, or a message that all will be okay. Music can be incredibly soothing.

  2. A few such songs standout in my immediate recent memory. Somebody Loves you, and Obelisk are two that I have had on repeat for a while now. <3

  3. These are still hard times. I’m looking forward to things getting better.

It’s hard to believe the blogging challenge is almost over for 2021. Then the after survey, reflections, and the road trip sign-up.
Plus, I’m taking part in the Bout of Books read-a-thon in May. So much excitement!
